Proved: bread protects us from cancer Eating brown bread or whole grain cereal products three times a day reduces the risk of developing bowel cancer by 20%, as it became known in the course of a large-scale study. But from legumes no preventive benefit was found.

Until recently it was believed that the use of legumes (beans, peas, lentils, peanuts) or a plurality of fruits and vegetables may protect against Bowel Cancer . However, British scientists from Imperial College London and the University of Leeds, examined data from previous studies, affecting two million people. They found a significant association between cereals and prevention of colon cancer, which is the third most common in the UK.

At each increase in the daily consumption of 10 grams of fiber in the risk of disease   bowel cancer It was reduced by 10%. Since the 1960s, the prevailing view in medicine that the fibers contribute to the normal functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, protecting people from bowel cancer. But there was no scientific studies that support this view.

British experts have used the findings of 25 studies. It was found that three servings of whole (90 g) in the daily diet reduce the risk of morbidity bowel cancer   20%. These studies are published in the journal British Medical Journal. But convincing evidence of preventive benefit of legumes, as well as a large number of fruits or vegetables in the prevention of colon cancer scientists could not be found.
