Pop music helps restore memory

Listening to pop music can help the victims of a severe brain injury to recover lost memories. That is the conclusion reached by researchers from Australia and France.

Scientists from the University of Newcastle (Australia) and the University of Lille (France) found that victims brain injury   when listening to what some popular songs recall approximately the same number of events of his life as completely healthy people. Only it is necessary that these songs had some relation to the past patients, that is, they were familiar with.

Most memories are thus unable to recover, refer to some people or a single person, and most of them are positive. This is the first scientific study of the power of music in the process   memory recovery   in people with Brain injuries . Previously, scientists have studied the effects of music on memory of healthy people, as well as victims of dementia.

Total participated in the experiment 5 people with long-term brain injury. Playlist for them is drawn up after consultation with the family and friends of patients. In addition, scientists also collected a similar number for a group of healthy people to compare the results. It turned out that pop music activates roughly the same number of positive memories, which makes it an effective tool memory recovery   and rehabilitation of victims of brain injuries.
