Oral health will evaluate Bluetooth-implant

Clever device developed at the National University of Taiwan. Miniature sensor inserted into an artificial tooth, and it keeps track of all movements of the mouth, passing this information to the dentist.

Unique design was created to demonstrate than fraught with bad habits. With this information, scientists can learn more about the habits of the people and to identify the potential threat to their health.

The researchers have already tested the device. They drew 8 people implanted with a sensor, which is a microplate with cables. For protection from saliva it covered resin cement, and avoid swallowing secure the wires attached to the smartphone, which stores the data.

The volunteers were asked to perform several physical activities: read aloud, cough, eat chewing gum and drink water. As it turned out, the implant recognize various operations within 93, 8%.


The inventors recognize that their device is not yet finalized. But before taking its improvement, they need to make a much more important matter - in particular, the scientific community to prove that their idea is viable.
