Plague - an infectious disease that is spread by rodents via fleas. It is highly contagious and the probability of death.

The first case was registered on August 31 in the area west of the capital, and the patient died three days after infection, the report said. In total there are 119 confirmed cases of plague in the 16 districts of seven provinces. Mainly it distributed the most dangerous strain of pulmonary infection with a very high mortality rate.

"The situation in Madagascar is complicated because of the high level of resistance of fleas to insecticides (drugs are used to kill fleas)," - said the WHO.

Modern sanitary measures, compliance with hygiene standards and new broad-spectrum antibiotics have led many to believe that the plague will not happen again. But in fact, a certain number of people in poor countries die from the disease every year, and doctors fear because of the high growth of distribution and the emergence of new strains resistant to antibiotics.
