Planetary scientists have refuted the classical theory of the formation of the Moon. After analyzing the isotopic composition of samples of deep mantle of the moon, scientists concluded that water molecules in them and in the matter of the Earth come from the same source, which probably were asteroids.
According to the classical theory, the moon was formed as a result of the collision Teyi, protoplanetary bodies, with the "germ" of the Earth.
The clash resulted in the ejection of matter Teyi and proto-Earth space, from which was "sleplena" Moon. This cataclysm was considered the reason why the bowels of the moon and its surface is practically devoid of water. However, this hypothesis has been challenged, when scientists found unexpectedly high concentration of water in the lunar igneous rocks, RIA Novosti reported.
The American Eric astrogeology led Hoyri of the Carnegie Institution in Washington, analyzed the isotopic composition of the rocks of the mantle of the Moon on the basis of materials delivered "Apollo" on Earth. Scientists estimate the number of deuterium ions and protons in the inclusions in samples of lunar soil by ion mass spectrometer and calculated their estimated proportion in Teye. It turned out that the deuterium in the lunar rocks were sufficiently small.
Its share was the same as the values characteristic of the Earth and the asteroid-chondrites formed in the first days after the birth of the solar system.
According to scientists, this shows that the water of the Earth and the Moon originated from the same source. A isotope ratio has not changed since their formation. Collision Teyi and Earth should have led to the evaporation of its water reserves and to major changes in the isotopic composition, which, however, did not happen.
