Future doctors did not wash their hands

Future doctors did not wash their hands Two-thirds of medical students in the United States have no idea of when they should wash their hands. The framework of occupational health, because of the violation of which in hospitals and spread resistant bacteria.

As is known, the simple hand wash   It is the best way to prevent the spread of a number of infections. It is surprising that most of the future of US doctors were not able to correctly answer the question of when they should wash their hands. This suggests that, despite the huge amount of knowledge, which in modern medical institutions the load of future doctors, students do not receive the most elementary principles of hygiene, neglect of which can be very expensive for their future patients.

A research team from the Hannover Medical School in Germany has tested 85 medical students from the US, which is already preparing to start their clinical practice in hospitals. All the young people were asked to identify which of the seven basic scenarios of action they need to wash your hands thoroughly. Listed were seven cases, five of which doctors are obliged to take care of their own hygiene.

Unfortunately, the correct answer to this question was given only every third student. They confirmed that   hand wash   the doctor is necessary before contact with the patient, before any manipulation of the patients, after removing gloves, after contact with the patient's bed and after contact with his vomit. Only 21% of the students correctly identified the two situations in which hand washing is required.

In addition, almost all respondents overestimated the purity of their own hands. They suggested that their hands "much cleaner" than nurses, although tests have shown the opposite. In this context, it becomes clear why the British government recommended by the patient to the hospital to demand from their own doctors to wash their hands when they come to the House and meet with patients in the emergency department.
