Researchers from North Carolina collected swabs of microflora from the navel of 500 adult men and women, and sowed them in lab dishes. The audit showed that participants in the experiment in the navel live bacteria belonging to 2368 species, and of this number, 1458 strains were previously unknown to science.
According to scientists, most of the bacteria that live on the human body - are harmless, but in smears taken from the navel, also met the dangerous strains of Clostridium and Staphylococcus.
