American scientists have found direct evidence that intake of coffee reduces the risk of dementia, or delay its progression. We are also talking about other beverages containing caffeine.
The study was conducted by researchers from the College of Pharmacology at the University of South Florida and the Institute of Health Byrd Alzheimer's Institute at the University of Miami. Experts watched the 124 volunteers aged 65 to 88 years, living in the cities of Tampa and Miami.
All of them at the start of observations had mild cognitive impairment. Patients have had difficulty with short memory, they were found characteristic Alzheimer pathological processes in the brain. The researchers decided to focus on these people because all they had to become full-fledged dementia victims for several years.
