On Monday died the author of 32 children's books Otfried Preußler. He died in the Bavarian commune at the age of 89 years. About this loss only became known to the media on Thursday, 21 of February - the storyteller lived a quiet secluded life.
Otfried Preußler , Sorb nationality, was born in 1923 in the Czech Reichenberg. Cravings for literature, he had a child, and wrote his first story at the age of 12 years. After graduation Proysler wanted to get married, move to Prague and start his writing career, but did not work - interrupted by the war.
After receiving the certificate, a talented young man was forced to join the army. He fought on the Eastern Front 1, 5 years (in 1944 Otfried was taken prisoner and was released only five years later). After leaving the territory of the USSR, he sought Proysler sweetheart and moved to her in Rosenheim (Bavaria). There he received pedagogical training, and during the study began writing, first earning a journalist, and then - as the author of radio programs for children.
Up until 1970 Otfried Preußler worked as a teacher. By the time he has already received recognition as a storyteller. The first book that brought him success, became "Little Water", the second best-selling - a collection of "Forest robber", consisting of three stories that are considered classics of children's literature. Adventure Hottsenplotts have been translated into 55 languages.
Among the other famous works of Preussler - "Little Ghost", "Krabat, or Legends of the old mill," "Little Baba Yaga" (whose plot was the basis for the Russian cartoon of the same name).
During the years of creative children's author has published more than 7, 5 million books, became the owner of more than 20 different awards, including the European Award for a book for young people.
