Swiss researchers from the University of Basel found out what exactly people go under the knife of a plastic surgeon. It's not just a desire to become more beautiful and younger.
Scientists interested in, and do not differ whether psychologically future patients beauty clinics from other people before the operation, that is, they do not suffer from all sorts of complexes. Many believe that it is an inferiority complex pushes man to plastic. The researchers compared patients with people who have never made plastic and with those who have gone through surgery for quite some time. No significant psychological differences between the three groups were found.
It turned out that the vast majority of patients do not expect the impossible from Plastic Surgeons . The question "What do I expect to get the plastic?" Among other responses psychologists specially set two options that would talk about inflated expectations: "I will become a completely different person," and "all my problems would be solved at once." But only 12% of preparing for plastic people chose these options. Most inclined to much more modest, "I'll feel better," "remove wrinkles" and "increase self-concept ".
In general, a successful plastic provides patients lasting improvement in mood. People become happier, and it's a pleasant feeling lasted many months after surgery.
