Walnuts almost a quarter reduce the risk of Type II diabetes if they use two or three times a week. That is the conclusion reached by researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston.
So, if a woman eats 28 grams of walnuts at least twice a week, the risk of becoming a victim Type 2 diabetes it has decreased by 24% as compared with the ladies who do not eat nuts. Although earlier scientists also detected anti-diabetic properties of walnuts, the experts from Harvard conducted the first large-scale study, which examined the effects of regular consumption of nuts. Although all the participants of this study were women, the researchers believe that the findings are valid for men.
Walnuts are rich in essential fatty acids that reduce inflammation in the body and protect against heart disease, cancer and arthritis. Last year, scientists from the University of California at Los Angeles have also shown that young people between the ages of 20 and 30 show greater fertility if eating walnuts every day. (READ MORE)
