UK residents say goodbye with a handshake - one of the most common types of greetings. Experts consider it unhygienic and dangerous to health.
British sociologists found that the age-old tradition to greet each other by handshake gradually receding into the past. The survey showed more than a thousand people, commissioned by soap manufacturer Radox, almost 50% of the population use a variety of alternative ways of greeting.
16% choose kisses on the cheek, fashionable in France and other continental European countries, and nearly one-third of the respondents prefer to hug when meeting. One in five believes that handshake is "too formal" greeting, and 42% would shake hands only when it is necessary to work.
Another 42% said they never shake hands to my friends. Every 12th believes via handshakes germs are transmitted, so this type of greeting you want to exclude. In fact the average person on the hand is home to 150 different bacteria, and many scientists believe handshake way of spreading many diseases.
Almost a quarter of respondents believe that a handshake is an outdated way to demonstrate masculinity. And yet 87% believe that this way of greeting is appropriate in the business, and 73% choose the first handshake greeting with a man whom they had just learned.
The researchers also found that the British Queen for his life shook the hands of more than half a million. Meanwhile, the average British man shakes hands 670 times, 304 woman in his life.
