Scientists assure: afraid of injections are no longer needed

About man's fear of injections will soon be forgotten. This was stated by Canadian scientists, who presented their development, helps reduce pain at the injection site.

Scientists assure: afraid of injections are no longer needed Thrust

At the annual meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologists in New Orleans presented a device that makes painless injection . Its principle of operation is based on the application of pressure and vibration at the time of penetration of the needle into the skin. Development of Canadian scientists presented.

- Every tenth person experiences fear of injections. This has a negative impact, for example, on the number of blood donors or wish to get vaccinated. Studies have shown that our device using pressure and vibration blocks the pain signals sent by nerve endings in the brain, thereby reducing discomfort from the injection, - says MD William Mackey, author of invention.

Scientists conducted an experiment, which involved 21 adult. They do not pierce the skin, but only simulated pain plastic needle. This has allowed to choose the most optimum mode of pressure and vibration. Pain decreased when the injection has an effect for 20 seconds before the injection. The experiment also showed that the pain does not affect the thermal impact or cold.

Scientists believe similar experiments with children can lead to different results, and temperature effects will be more effective. Therefore, research should continue, this time reducing the age of the participants of the experiment. Regardless of future results, the authors develop confident that the introduction of devices into clinical practice can help relieve patients (both large and small) from fear of injections .
