Eating nuts during pregnancy reduces the risk of allergies in children's unborn child. That is the conclusion reached by scientists from the Danish Institute Statens Serum Institute under the direction of Catherine Maslova.
They found that for seven years in children born to mothers who ate nuts during pregnancy, one-third less likely to collide with asthma of allergic origin, compared with others of their peers. Note that the official medicine for many years advised women in the position of just refrain from any nuts, because they allegedly increases the risk of allergies in children.
But in 2009, this recommendation has been revised, since no scientific evidence clearly proving its worth, could not be reached. Since then, women were allowed to eat nuts during pregnancy, breast-feeding, or the first years of baby's life. Danish researchers have moved a step further by showing that the nuts on the other hand, reduce the risk of children's allergies .
Ekaterina Maslova and colleagues watched the health of 60 thousand mothers and their children from the moment of the first trimester and until the children reach the age of seven. It turned out that the use of pregnant nuts reduced the risk of developing allergies in their children to 18 months by 25%, and to seven years in the third.
