Georgia will participate in Sochi Olympics

May 2 Georgian National Olympic Committee voted to participate in the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014.

In the vote was attended by 46 delegates - representatives of various sports federations registered on the committee. All of them voted unanimously.

"I congratulate you on the fact that the Georgian athletes will participate in the Olympics," - said after the vote, the President of the NOC Leri Khabelov.

Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili will attend the winter 2014 Olympics Sochi as a guest.

After the armed conflict in 2008, the participation of Georgian athletes in the 2014 Olympics was called into question. Politicians Georgia   repeatedly tried to boycott the Games. The official position of Georgia changed when the ruling party was the "Georgian Dream" led by Bidzina Ivanishvili.

At present, between Russia and Georgia has no diplomatic relations. After the Russian authorities to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in 2008, they were torn from Tbilisi.
