The study involved 1120 patients who survived heart attacks for the first time. All of them were treated in Israeli hospitals between 1992 and 1993. Participants in the study were younger than 65 years old at the time of initial hospitalization. The researchers followed them for 19 years until 2011.

It turned out that the inhabitants of city centers with high levels of smog and other permanent victim Air Pollutants   43% more likely to re-transferred to heart attacks or experienced congestive heart failure. The risk of reinfarction in their case was increased by 46%.
