Carrot protects against prostate cancer

Carrots not only helps us see better in the dark, it also protects men from prostate cancer. However, scientists do not know exactly what it is due to the amazing power of this vegetable.

In the journal European Journal of Nutrition published the results of a meta-analysis of Chinese scientists from Zhejiang University, who found that they consume carrots at least three times a week, men at 18% less likely to encounter prostate cancer . Chinese experts have put together the results of 10 separate studies conducted in different parts of the world in which the authors studied the anti-cancer properties of carrots.

Some of these small-scale studies have shown that carrots protects against Prostate Cancer Others do not come to similar conclusions. But put together, these data nevertheless showed that the vegetable man provides solid protection against the most common among the stronger sex cancer.

Thus carrots men should use at least three times a week to achieve the effect described above. If they eat this vegetable is less common, it does not contribute to any additional prevention of prostate cancer.   Chinese scientists themselves can not explain exactly why carrots protects against prostate cancer. Perhaps its power due to the high content of carotenoids - the pigments that give carrots its characteristic color.

Most known carotenoids, like beta-carotene and lycopene, have long been considered a powerful weapon against cancer, as they are able to reduce cell damage from oxidative stress. (READ MORE)
