70% of plastic surgeons using Lipofilling

70% of American plastic surgeons use a technique of fat grafting in operations for breast reconstruction. Such data are contained in the July issue of the journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Although transplantation of fat ( Lipofilling ) Is an excellent alternative to the use of silicone implants and saline breast, most plastic surgeons use the technology not in the cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. Researchers surveyed 456 surgeons about how they use lipofilling, and 70% said yes.

As it turned out, in recent years the interest of professionals in this methodology has steadily increased. Fat transplant is extracted during liposuction, so this operation is like a double effect - it allows the patient to get rid of "surplus" in the same place at the same time increasing or reconstruct the breast. Most often, doctors perform liposuction of the abdomen and thigh area.

88% of plastic surgeons performing Lipofilling   in the chest, do it at reconstructive operations, often using fat patients with implants. Doctors believe the technology is particularly useful for transplantation to achieve the effect of changing the shape of the breast, including reconstruction after lumpectomy in the early stages of breast cancer.

You may recall that in the late 1980s in the professional community of plastic surgeons United States strongly recommended the use of fat grafting, because after these procedures worsened the possibility of early detection of breast tumors.
