Scientists from Oxford convinced that the human papillomavirus causes tumors of the throat is really comparing blood samples from cancer patients and healthy people. Approximately one third of patients with antibodies in the blood is one of the 16 key viral proteins that cause cancer.
Scientists estimate that in the next 10 years, 7% of every 100 non-smoking women and 23% of the 100 non-smoking men who carry these antibodies will become victims of throat cancer. Fortunately, in patients with tumors of the throat, whose illness was caused by infection human papillomavirus , Survival rates were higher than in those who are ill for some other reasons.
Science has established that the human papillomavirus increases the risk of developing cancer of the cervix, vulva, rectum and penis. In Britain, girls aged 12 to 13 years, provide free vaccinations against the virus, or rather two of its most common strains of HPV16 and HPV18. However, science is not yet known whether the vaccine protects against oral HPV infection and oral cancer.
Every year in Britain are diagnosed and 1 500 cases of cancer of the mouth and throat, and about 470 people die annually from the disease. Human papillomavirus is spread through oral or genital contact during sex. In people who have a large number of partners in terms of oral sex, the risk of getting the virus is highest.
